Dancehall artistes Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy took their beef to another level at the just-ended VGMA’s after the former mounted stage while Stonebwoy was about to give his acceptance speech upon winning Reggae/Dancehall artiste of the year.
Stonebwoy was crowned the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) 2019 Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the year. And in his speech, he told Shatta Wale in his face that this is the fifth he’s beating him to win the award.
An unhappy Shatta Wale and his fans had got off their seats and made their way to the podium, but were stopped by Stonebwoy and his fans and that led to a brawl.
The event nearly turned bloody in the early hours of Sunday, May 19, 2019 if not for the intervention of some security operatives.
Shatta and Stonebwoy have also been banned indefinitely by the organisers, Charterhouse.
The decision was announced at a press conference at the Alisa Hotel in Accra by Charterhouse and the Board of the awards.
The decision means that Shatta Wale is no longer the winner of the ‘Highlife Song of the Year’ for ‘My Level’ and ‘Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year’ for ‘Gringo’.
It also means that Stonebwoy has also lost the ‘Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year’ and ‘Best Collaboration of the Year’ awards he won on the night.
Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy were arrested by the police on Sunday over a brawl that erupted between their camps at the 20th anniversary of the VGMA.
Pandemonium broke out shortly after Stonebwoy was announced the winner of ‘Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year’ when Shatta Wale and his team were seen going towards the stage, their intentions unclear. #Stonebwoy #ShattaWale #Gun #VGMA
