Oduduwa not a descendant of the Igbos – Oluwo of Iwoland goes back to history

The Oluwo of Iwoland, Emeror Telu has come out to debunk claims that the founding father of Yoruba, Oduduwa was a last born of the Igbos.

In a bid to lay the controversy of Yoruba-Igbo ties to rest, Oluwo of Iwoland debunked the aforementioned as claimed by the Ohaneze Indigbo.
Oluwo described the claim as unfounded, false and misleading to the stalwarts of history, beseeching Igbo community to further their research on the adventure of their own Oduduwa rather than demeaning the status of Yoruba rallying point.

“Yoruba nation was founded by Oduduwa. Oduduwa brought the first civilization which is the crown. Oduduwa demonstrated an unequaled leadership, shrewd, peculiar, unparalleled, unmatched, quintessential and different, served his people and became rallying point for his services to humanity. He gave us the best tradition, so respectful and obedience. Yoruba culture is rich, very beautiful and unblemished emanated from Oduduwa”.

“History is rich, necessary and must always be objective because it is a foundation to the future. Worldwide, Yoruba land is the source of every natural crowns. Our crowns are spirit, divinely ordained and sacred. It was brought by Oduduwa. And we owe a duty as his progenitors to defend everything about him”.

“The fact that Odudunwa means last born in Igbo language does not make anyone bearing similar name is Igbo born. Ours was Oduduwa meaning ” He came out black”.O-He, Dudu-black, Wa-Came Oduduwa was an immortal symbol of merit. Oduduwa was never a subject to anybody in West Africa. Our own Oduduwa was one different from your own Odudunwa meaning last born. We have countless last born in Yoruba called “Abikanhin”.

There may be many Odudunwa but only one Oduduwa” “Oduduwa was the source of every natural crowns worldwide. He has been in existence even before traditional governance was extended to the Igbos. How then can you be a prince to what you preceeded?”Oluwu asked.

Recall that a statement by the Ooni’s Chief Press Secretary, Moses Olafare, after the Ooni met with the Lagos state president of , Chief Solomon Ogbonna at his Ile-Oodua palace in Ile-Ife, stated;

“I am so happy to have the President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State President here as part of this empowerment initiative.

“This is your root. I said it recently, some of our Yoruba kinsmen with ignorance of our history came out with nugatory bereavement of my position on the family ties between Yoruba and Igbo people.

“We have to say the truth and the truth must set us all free, we are blood brothers. We should be inseparable. Please feel at home in Yorubaland and respect your Yoruba brothers and sisters too.

“We still have House of Igbo right in this palace till date. We call it Ile Igbo up till now. Our ancestors are buried and transfigured there. That is where kolanut was first discovered and nurtured.

“The Igbos are still the biggest consumers and users of Kolanut which is only planted in Yorubaland till date. Can the Igbos do without kolanut?

“The ancient Igbo house is one of the most sacred places in thia palace till date. One of my brother kings – Aka Arogundabi from Iremo quarters saw the mysteries of house of Igbo(Aka-ri-Igbo). Till date, Akarigbo of Remoland still sees house of Igbo as a common heritage of his forebears,”Ooni explained.
