Yahoo boys: What Davido, Tunde Ednut, Naira Marly, Oyemykke and others are saying

“Yahoo Yahoo” a popular name for internet fraud in Nigeria, has been in the mouth of many in recent times. There has been an online tussle between those involved in it, those that support it and those against in.

It would be recalled that singer Simi sparked controversy online when she stated in a live video that ‘Yahoo boys should quit listening to her music if they want, because she’s not ready to glorify fraud.’

Simi’s comment generated a lot of comments online that her husband, Adekunle Gold was dragged into the conversation. An online user accused Adekunle Gold of helping Yahoo boys with forgery. It didn’t end there as other celebrities had to weigh in on the issue.

While some supported internet fraud, leveraging on the fact that politicians steal money and there’s no hope for the common Nigerian youth, others believe that whatever is bad is bad and fraud shouldn’t be in anyway glorified.

Oyemykke to Simi on Yahoo Boys: Keep same energy for politicians

Social media influencer and Instagram celebrity, Oyemykke has urged Simi to keep same energy she uses to condemn internet fraud to condemn corruption by politicians.

In his video, he argued that most of the Nigerian stars were made from the proceeds of fraud and so they are not in the best position to condemn fraudsters, rather they should face the politicians who are the real fraudsters.

He wrote:

“Let’s call a spade what it is, Fraud is bad & should be condemned. But not from a fellow fraud star & that’s my main concern. There’s no need to fight one side of corruption , Nigeria is bad & even 5 year olds are becoming & dreaming about Fraud. Let’s curb it together but it’s very important we start from the TOP .

DO NOT BE VOICELESS WHEN WE ARE FIGHTING POLITICIANS!! KEEP THESAME ENEGRY as you have for these Internet Thieves with the ones that book your shows, with the ones that give endorsements.
I say this because I see how Politicians are celebrated everyday when they are the bigger problem of our society. Fight All If We Must Fight & Fight From The Top .”
