Ethiopian athlete, Sintayehu Legese has won the 2019 Lagos City Marathon and will smile home with the 50 thousand dollars grand prize.
Legese finished the race with a time of 2:17:26 while Kenya’s Joshua Kipkorir came second.
The second and third place runners are expected to go home with $40, 000 and $30, 000 respectively.
Meleka Meseret Dinke, who is also an Ethiopian also emerged the female winner of the marathon.
The race, which took place on Saturday, kicked off in the early hours of the day from the National Stadium in Surulere and the finish line at Eko Atlantic City.
Lesesse won the competition with a time of 2:17.26.
