Empire star, Jussie Smollett has been arrested by the Chicago Police and now faces a felony charge for allegedly filing a false Police report.
We had reported late last month that Smollett was beaten and tormented with homophobic and racial slurs by two men, including one who was masked, in the early morning of January 29 in Chicago. The black and gay actor subsequently filed a Police report which has now been termed, ‘false’. He alleged that he had gone out to buy food late at night when two white men hurled racial and homophobic insults at him, punched him, poured a chemical substance over him and put a rope around his neck; making the Police pounce on the case, treating it as a hate crime.
In the weeks that followed the alleged attack, there came a twist to the narrative, transforming Smollett from a victim to a suspect. The Police declared that they could not find video of the incident from surveillance cameras in the area and hence, wanted to conduct a follow-up interview with the actor.

Further investigations revealed that Jussie Smollett might be in more trouble and may face jail term for filing a false report which is disorderly conduct and punishable by one to three years under Illinois law. His roles in the movie, Empire, was further slashed from nine to four scenes following the attack scandal in January.
In a recent report, actor Jussie Smollett has now been arrested by Chicago police on Thursday morning, 21st February, around 5 a.m. ahead of a 1:30 p.m. bail hearing, on suspicion of filing a false report.
We await the updates.
