A 60-year-old father of five, Daniel Sakpe, has committed suicide in the Omobayi area of Itapaji in the Ikole council area of Ekiti State.
According to reports, the incident happened on Monday night February 25th. The deceased, Mr Sakpe, was asleep with his wife in their matrimonial room when at about 12am, he woke up and said he needed to use the rest room.
After waiting for over 30 minutes for him to return, his wife raised alarm and their daughter, Rebecca, went about in search for him. Sadly, Rebecca found her father’s body hanging from a rope inside the house after she flashed the torchlight towards the ceiling.
Neighbours who expressed shock at the tragic incident, said the deceased was not moody and didn’t give any sign that he would commit suicide. According to them, the deceased who is a dedicated church worker, participated in the church service on Sunday, February 24th.
His remains has since been deposited in the morgue.
The reason for him committing suicide is yet to be known.
