Legendary American singer Aretha Franklin who was diagnosed with cancer in 2010, died today, August 16th at age 76.
She gave her final performance last November, 2017 at a gala in New York held in aid of the Elton John Aids Foundation and announced her retirement from music same year.
She was admitted into the hospital on Monday after being in a critical state and her family asked fans for prayers before she gave up the ghost today. In a statement, her family said:
“In one of the darkest moments of our lives, we are not able to find the appropriate words to express the pain in our heart.
She will be remembered for her hit songs like “Respect” and “Natural Woman.”
