Nigerian Presidential aspirant, Olasubomi Okeowo, who indicated interest to contest in the 2019 Presidential election, on TVC’s Entertainment show, YourViewTVC, has pulled out following a controversial interview with Laila Johnson Salami and Falz.
Okeowo who shared his dreams with the ladies of Your View, had listed the major steps he would take when he becomes the President of Nigeria.
Unfortunate, The African Democratic Congress Party (ADCP) candidate pulled out after he was backlashed on social media for labbelling Nigerians unproductive in a new interview.
Okeowo was asked in the interview how he plans to make Nigeria a producing nation since we are a mostly a consuming nation.
He answered; “Well… what can we possibly produce? There’s nothing we can produce. We are black people. We are not wired that way.”

His response has raised a lot of eyebrows with many criticising his thoughts. As a such, he took to his Instagram page to announce that he had pulled out of the presidential race.
Maybe we should see things from another perspective. As much as I and my campaign team have not called any Nigerian unproductive or say that the black man cannot produce anything, myself have only said invariably we should focus on our strength and come together as a people to resolve our needs. If anyone is angered, let them turn the anger into productivity and show us all it can be done. As much as I don’t lay claim to know it all, I will Honorably stand down to allow a more qualified candidate go for the post. I regret any speech that may sound derogatory and want to use this opportunity to wish Nigeria and Nigerians well.
I agree with you and I am equally pained. I did not mean we can’t do great things as Nigerians, I just wanted us to maintain focus and shift energy to the right places. Sorry if I offended you. I am about to issue a statement apologizing to our youth
Never will I look down on my people as unproductive. But I have felt the pains of Nigerians youth now and I felt their pulses also. Now that I know what we need to do, I and my team will swing into action to focus our energy on production. Long live Nigeria
