The Super Eagles of Nigeria had a 2-0 win against Iceland in their second Group D game of the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup on Friday.
Ahmed Musa’s stunning brace leads the Super Eagles to a big win over Iceland.
After a difficult first-half for the Eagles with no shots on target, the Nigerian team came back better in the second half.
All thanks to Ahmed Musa whose incredible performance lifted Nigeria past Iceland.
Musa made it happen after Iheanacho laid a pass for Moses on the right wing. Musa’s superb first touch allowed him to control Moses’s cross, and he smashed the ball into the net which put the Super Eagles 1-0 up.
The Super Eagles became more confident with the ball though a little bit pressured by the Iceland team but Nigeria created better chances.
Musa added a goal in the 75th minute after taking a long run from the Eagles side, outpaced the Iceland defenders Kari Arnason and Halldorsson before hitting the net with another shot.
Iceland misery was made complete in the 82nd minute. A VAR-assisted penalty was awarded when Tyronne Ebuehi bowled Finnbogason over in the box, but Sigurdsson could only hit the resulting spot kick over the bar. It was full time and the Jubilation was massive.
The Super Eagles will now face Argentina in their last Group D game and must avoid defeat to progress into the round of 16.A win over Argentina will be enough for the Super Eagles to secure passage into the second round.
