Joe Jackson, father of King of Pop, Michael Jackson has passed on after battling cancer.
The music manager and father to 11 children, including pop superstar Michael and Janet Jackson had been been in the hospital with cancer, but as confirmed now by family members, the 89-year-old has passed on.
Jackson was said to be in the final stages of terminal cancer. He had previously suffered a stroke in São Paulo in 2015, along with a number of heart attacks.
Joe died just two days after the ninth anniversary of the demise of his son, Michael, who died on June 25, 2009 at the age of 50.
Family sources tell the online celebrity and entertainment news outlet that Joe passed away at 3:30 AM on Wednesday in Los Angeles.
Members of his family, including his grandson, have since confirmed his death.
In a statement, Michael Jackson’s estate said:
“We are deeply saddened by Mr Jackson’s passing and extend our heartfelt condolences to Mrs Katherine Jackson and the family.
“Joe was a strong man who acknowledged his own imperfections and heroically delivered his sons and daughters from the steel mills of Gary, Indiana to worldwide pop superstardom.”

Joe Jackson’s musical dynasty started as a trio, consisting of Jackie, Tito, and Jermaine, in Gary, Indiana, in the early 1960s.
Marion and Michael then joined to make them the Jackson Five.
Joe’s legacy for managing his children in the history of music may have been a successful one, but was known to have abused parenting and management practices, including physical brutality.
In 2010, he told Oprah Winfrey that he beat his children with a strap and didn’t regret doing so. “It kept them out of jail and kept them right,” he said.
Joe and his wife had 10 children and were married for 60 years.
Jackson also had another daughter, Joh’Vonnie Jackson, with Cheryl Terrell, with whom he had a 25-year affair.
