Mamoudou Gassama, the Malian migrant who climbed an apartment building in Paris to rescue a 4-year-old kid dangling from the balcony last month, has received a humanitarian award at the 2018 BET Awards held at the Microsoft Theatre, California on Sunday June 24, 2018.
Gassama,22 was honored alongside other 2018 BET Humanitarian Heroes: Anthony Borges, James Shaw Jr, Justin Blackman, Naomi Wadler and Shaun King. He became one of the first recipients of the BET Humanitarian Heroes award.
Gassama who has been nicknamed “African Spider-Man” has since been granted a French citizenship by French President Emmanuel Macron, and was also offered an enrollment to be a firefighter at the French fire service with a pay of 600 euros monthly for his humanitarian gesture.
