Food Recipe for Fresh Fish Palmnut Soup and Oat Fufu.
Chef Tina showed off her culinary skills with this special dish, Fresh Fish Palmnut Soup and Oat fufu in the kitchen today.
Fresh Fish palm nut soup is also known traditionally as the ‘Banga soup’ or ‘Ofe Akwu’. It is a native soup for the Delta people (south- Eastern part) of Nigeria. This soup is usually served with Starch but Chef Tina served the soup with Oat fufu. Learn to prepare this delicious meal by following these easy steps below.
Ingredients:
- Salt
- Crayfish
- Dry bitter leaves
- Periwinkles
- Assorted meat
- Seasoning cubes
- Banga spice
- Pepper
- Palm nut seeds
- Fresh catfish
How to cook:
-Extract the palmnut juice from the palmnut.
-Boil the palm nut juice for about 10 minutes at high heat.
-Add salt to the palm juice.
-Allow to boil to a certain consistency (thick) and you see the oil on the surface.
-Add the assorted meat
-Cover and allow to boil for a few more minutes.
-Then add the blended pepper and stir.
-Add a little banga spice into the pot.
-Add your seasoning cubes, crayfish.
-Then add the periwinkle and stir.
-Now add your boiled catfish to the pot.
-Add your dry bitter leaves and a pinch of salt to taste.
-Leave to simmer for about 2 minutes.
-The palm nut soup is now done
-Serve with the oat fufu or any swallow of your choice.
N/B: Oat fufu makes you fuller quicker and longer, making it great for weight loss.
