Joel El Amadi is a Nigeria singer, song writer and performer who has actually been referred to as a clown of the legendary musician 2face Idibia because of the similarities he shares with him.
In his interview with Mike Mesikenor today on #WakeUpNigeria he shared with viewers how he almost gave up on his music career because of the various criticisms he gets from people who think he is copying 2face Idibia. He narrated how tough and discouraging it was for him;
In 2011, I went to one carnival at Festac, I was at the back stage and was struggling to perform because no one knows me then, a guy just approached me and said ‘you wan perform? you no go perform here! you wan be like 2face? you no go blow’, when I got on the stage, I couldn’t grab the mic because my hands were shaking”.
Joel shares a lot of similarities with 2face in terms of music style, mannerism, gestures and look alike, but still, he found it difficult to say something when he met him, he said;
I met 2face in 2010, my intention was to get an opportunity to talk to him and tell him that I will like to get signed up with hypertek, but I could not say anything when I met him, it was as if I saw a demi-god. However, not long after I met 2face, I got signed under kennies music record label”.
Joel El Amadi also dropped some massive hits such as Love Song, Happy and Bakololo, which has taken him to another level of his career and gave him a chance to perform on big stages in Nigeria and other parts of the world. The video of his latest single ‘Keep Loving’ will be out on Monday 11th of December 2017.
