Kalu Ikeagwu revealed in an interview with Yomi Owope on WakeUpNigeria this morning, why he decided to go back to stage acting & why it took him so long to get married. He said;
“Though Stage play and TV are on the same field, they are quite different from one another. Seriously, there is nothing like stage. There is nothing impersonal about stage because it is just you and the camera but stage, you interact with people and you get feedback from them. When you want them to smile, you know what to and how to step up your game. Stage is proof of how well you have prepared. There is no second chance, once you are there, you are there till the end.
AdvertisementWhen I did my first stage play, I had so many likes, it was crazy and it boosted my confidence. When it comes to TV, you just learn for the scene and that’s all but for stage, I had to learn a whole lot of lines and deliver them at once. That really encouraged me to know that I still have the memory of a 5 year old or a villager, because villager don’t play with their memories and they remember every detail.”
Kalu who got married last year to his pretty wife, Ijeoma Eze and his anniversary is tomorrow also explained how marriage is the second part of his life.
“Marriage is quite a different experience. The second part of my life started when I got married. It’s a different feeling especially for someone who loved solitude like me, I loved solitude, I loved my space and that’s why I didn’t get married in time. Before I got married, I had to decide that ‘Kalu, you don’t matter anymore, your family matters now.”
