Super Eagles placed in Pot 4 for Russia 2018 draw

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have been placed in Pot 4 ahead of December 1 draw for the group stages of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

The pots were announced by FIFA on their official website on Thursday. The Nigeria super eagles team finished their qualifiers with 14 points from four wins and two draws.

Each pot houses eight countries. Countries in the same pot with Nigeria are Serbia, Australia, Japan, Morocco, Panama, South Korea, and Saudi Arabia.

The World Cup will feature five African countries, five Asian countries, three North and Central American countries, five South American countries and 14 European countries.

Following Peru’s qualification, all 32 teams are now officially qualified for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

In Pot 1 are Russia, defending champions Germany, Brazil, Portugal, Argentina, Belgium, Poland and France.

Pot 2 has Spain, Peru, who are qualifying for the first time since 1982, Switzerland, England, Colombia, Mexico, Uruguay and Croatia. Pot 3 has Denmark, Iceland, Costa Rica, Sweden, Tunisia, Egypt, Senegal and Iran.

Australia will go directly into pot four because they occupy a position in the FIFA rankings that is lower than every single member of pot three. Serbia, Nigeria, Japan, Morocco, Panama, South Korea and Saudi Arabia make up the rest of pot four.
