Nigerian singer, D’banj has revealed that he signed Davido with a rolex watch after he was introduced to him in 2014.
In an interview with fast rising UK acts, The FedzFed, D’banj revealed that Davido’s parents pleaded with him to allow Davido go to school before facing music.
He said;
“In 2014, a producer brought a young artiste to my studio to sign.I signed the artist by giving him a Rolex wristwatch as his signing up fee.So I signed the artist and got called later on that the parents of the artist wanted to meet me.
So I went and the dad said please,I want my boy to go to school.I know you’ve signed him ,but allow him to go to school. So,that also inspired me and I let him go to school and then after that,he can continue to music . And to look at today and realize the boy I’m talking about, is one of the biggest artists to come out of this nation is Davido,it’s inspiring. Today,I’m sure he can look at other artistes and give them Rolexes.”
Speaking further, D’banj said not just those that were in the music industry before him inspires him, but the young generation also inspires him.
