Crystal Palace sack manager Frank de Boer after four matches

Crystal Palace have relieved new manager, Frank de Boer of his duties after just five games in charge following the south London side’s latest Premier League defeat and are understood to have lined up Roy Hodgson as his replacement.

In a statement on the club’s website, Crystal Palace said: “Crystal Palace Football Club have this morning parted company with Frank de Boer. We would like to thank Frank for his dedication and hard work during his time at the club. A new manager will be appointed in due course and we wish Frank the very best of luck for the future.”

Under De Boer, Crystal Palace became the first team to lose their first four top-flight matches without scoring a goal since Preston in the 1924-25 season.

De Boer leaves the club with the unwanted record of having the shortest managerial record in the Premier League having managed for just four games – which all ended in defeat.

Palace’s only win under De Boer came in the League Cup game with Ipswich Town who they beat 2-1 at Selhurst Park last month.
