YourView TVC host, Morayo Afolabi Brown said, the basic infrastructural facilities needed for shooting both musical and film videos are lacking in Nigeria.
It will be recalled that, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed said during his visit to the headquarters of the Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON) on Saturday that, government has taken steps to amend the Nigeria Broadcasting Code to discourage the production of Nigerian movies and music outside the shore of the country.
The Minister decried the situation whereby films, reality TV shows and music, were made outside Nigeria, for consumption by Nigerians. He said the situation had hampered empowerment of practitioners in the industry, the development of the sector and the nation’s economy in general.
But reacting to the minister’s statement, Morayo said, amending the broadcasting code may not be the only thing that will compel producers to shoot their videos locally, but putting the required infrastructural facilities will boost their confidence in Nigeria.
Her words: ‘Producers are going abroad to shoot their videos because the infrastructural facilities required are not available in the country. If these basic infrastructural facilities are put in place in Nigeria, then musical videos and films can be produced here in the country without stress’.
