Jose Mourinho says the Europa League victory was validation for Manchester United after being “the worst team in the world” at times this season.
Goals from Paul Pogba and Henrikh Mkhitaryan secured a 2-0 victory over Ajax in Stockholm and earned more silverware for the club following victories in the EFL Cup and the Community Shield.
Mourinho’s first season in charge yielded only a 6th-place finish in the Premier League, but will now play in the Champions League next season- and Mourinho insists the season must now be seen as a success.

The wins also completes United’s trophy cabinet and makes them the 5th club to have won the champion league and Europa cup.
