The Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) which kicked off in some states of the federation , was Friday flagged off in Asaba the Delta state capital by the national commissioner in charge of south-south, Mr. Muhammed Mustafa Lecky.
Addressing stakeholders at the ceremony, Mr. Lecky said the exercise will be a continuous process even till the next election year in 2019.
The CVR is aimed at registering eligible voters and distributing permanent voters cards (PVC) to those who had registered but have not collected their PVC.
The process will also be used to update the voters register to reflect transfers and death in accordance with section 10 of the electoral
act 2010.
The national commissioner stated that registration must be done in person and not by proxy, and multiple-registration is prohibited.
He further said the registration is a condition for exercising one’s right to vote.
