Akin Omotosho’s Vaya, has been nominated in twelve categories for the 2017 edition of the Africa Movie Academy Awards 2017.
Some of the categories include: Award For Best Film In An African Language, Award For Achievement In Soundtrack, Award For Achievement In Cinematography, Award For Best Director and Award For Best Film.
Izu Ojukwu’s “76” scored eight nominations with Rita Dominic and Ramsey Noah scoring acting nominations for their role in the film.
Disney’s “Queen of Katwe” also scored eight nominations earning Lupita Nyong’o and David Oyelowo acting nominations.
“93 Days”, a movie about the Ebola crisis in Nigeria and “Oloibiri” follow closely with with seven nominations each in categories like, Lagos State Award For Best Nigerian Film and Award For Best Actress In A Supporting Role.
Abba Makama’s coming of age story “Green White Green” grabbed two nominations including the Lagos State Award for Best Nigerian Film category.
The nominations list was unveiled by the Film Award jury in Kigali, Rwanda.
