The Peoples Democratic Party has reacted to the ruling of the Edo State governorship election Tribunal that upheld the election of Godwin Obaseki of the All Progressives Congress as the governor of Edo State.
Chairman of the party in Edo State Dan Orbih, and the defeated governorship candidate, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, insisted that the Party would do everything within the law to reclaim the mandate.
They said the PDP will be appealing the case as soon as it receives copies of the ruling next week.
The Edo state election petitions tribunal on Friday affirmed the victory of Godwin Obaseki as the winner of the last governorship election.
The Peoples Democratic Party and its candidate, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, had challenged Obaseki’s election, alleging widespread irregularities.
But head of the tribunal, Ahmed Badamosi, dismissed Ize-Iyamu’s petition.
Obaseki, who ran on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, was declared the winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
