The new speaker of the Ondo state house of Assembly, Hon Bamidele, his deputy, Hon Ogundeji and two other members, have dumped the People’s Democratic Party for the All Progressives Congress.
The four lawmakers were received by the Secretary to the State Government.
TVC’s Ayodeji Moradeyo reports that the defection of the four lawmakers came a few hours after Dele Oloyelogun and Ogundeji Iroju emerged as the new speaker and Deputy Speaker of the assembly respectively.
Only thirteen lawmakers out of twenty six members participated in the election of the new speaker and his deputy
The duo led two other lawmakers to pitch their tents with the APC at the the governor’s office where they were received by the Secretary to the State Government, Ifedayo Abegunde.
The new speaker attributed their defection to the protracted crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
His Deputy also threw more light on the reasons they dumped their party.

With this development, APC now has Nine lawmakers in the assembly as more PDP legislators are planing to move to the ruling party
