Amnesty International has nominated Europe-based Nigerian Reggae musician, Winning Jah for this year’s “ Voci per la Libertà” also known as “Voices for Freedom.”
“Voices for Freedom” – A song for Amnesty is a festival promoted by the Italian section of Amnesty International.
Winning Jah’s ‘Deep Sea’, a song about the illegal migration by Africans via Libya to Europe through the Mediterranean sea and their ordeal will be featured during the festival.
Born Kingsley Eno Osagie, Winning Jah started his musical career at the age of six and was mentored by his mother who was a traditional ruler and a singer.
In late 90’s, he converted to Rastafari religion and traveled to Burkina Faso and Guinea to study more percussions from notable drummers like Kassoum Diarra and Mamady Keita (Djembe Players) before he left Africa finally in late 90’s for Europe to study music and Social marketing.
