Following an impressive screening at the Toronto International Film Festival, Abba Makama’s Green White Green has been announced as part of the lineup for the 24th New York African Film Festival.
It will also be the official New York Premiere of the film. It explores social and political views commonly held throughout Nigeria, with each character representing one of the country’s three major ethnic groups.
Akin Omotosho’s action flick Vaya will open the festival. The crime drama also screened at the Toronto International Film Festival and also at the Berlin International Film Festival.
The highly anticipated Solomon Mahlangu bipioc, Kalushi will have its United States premiere at the festival. The true life story is the tale of one of the pioneers of the South African liberation movement.
The 24th New York African Film Festival aims to host narrative features and documentaries that reflect the ways African men and women have broken through borders with films and stories that form part of the global imagination.
