Hundreds of Nigerian troops will for the next one month comb the bushes in Southern Kaduna to fish out and decisively deal with killer herdsmen in the area.
The month long operation is also aimed at bringing to a halt lingering security issues in Bauchi and Plateau states.
The exercise was launched on Wednesday in Kaura local government area in Southern Kaduna.
Tagged; Operation Harbin Kunama, the nation’s army chief, Tukur Buratai, in company of Kaduna governor, Nasir El-Rufai, tasked the troops to work within the rules of engagement.
Army authorities say beyond just combing the bushes, the troops will also carryout free medical outreaches, carry out water projects and renovate a health care centre in Southern Kaduna.
Officers and men involved in the operation are drawn from One mechanised division of the army in Kaduna, Operation Safe haven in Plateau, and elements from the Three Division of the army.
