The future of Nigeria ‘s main opposition party, the PDP continues to maintain a gloomy outlook with every passing day.
This is due to the fact that every frantic attempt to restore peace in the party continues to meet a brick wall.
Political groups now besiege the party’s secretariat on a daily basis paying solidarity visits to PDP National Chairman, Ali Modu Sheriff.
But the recent visit by the reconciliation committee headed by Bayelsa state governor, Seriake Dickson has only served to further heighten the crisis.
They presented a blue print for the conduct of a unity convention.
While Sheriff endorsed their recommendation, the Makarfi faction is kicking against it.
The crisis has taken a new twist with the Makarfi faction no longer embracing a political solution.
They have vowed to fight to ensure the party structure is restored.
But it’s a battle Ali Modu sheriff is familiar with.
The crack in the party continues to widen each day as both actors seem not prepared to compromise the future of the party remains uncertain about ahead of 2019 election.
