Abia tricycle operators protest arrest and detention of members by police

Tricycle operators popularly known as Keke NAPEP in Umuahia, Abia state capital have called on Governor Okezie Ikpeazu to intervene and help them secure the release of their members from detention.
The operators who came as a union of Keke Napep Owner Welfare Association KNOWA said that they came to the Government house to draw the attention of Governor Ikpeazu to what they termed the unlawful arrest and detention of 30 of their members by the police in the state.

They alleged that their members were arrested with their tricycles since on Monday and have not regained their freedom 72 hours after for operating beyond 7pm, which they claimed was still within their operation time as earlier given to them by the state government.

Meanwhile, as at the time of filing this report, information has it that the leadership of the group are in a meeting with Government officials while efforts to get the police was not successful as those in position to speak were out on official duties
