Every year, hopeful celebrities walk the red carpet at the Academy Awards surrounded by giant replicas of the iconic Oscars trophies they hope to take home.
One month before the ceremony, the real statuettes are being produced here at this factory in rural New York.
For the past two years, they have used 3D printing technology to do so.
Today’s statue is almost identical to the original version…with only a slightly more muscular torso.
But the process is completely different.
From start to finish, the process has 10 different stages.
The cost of the famous statues is a closely guarded secret, just like the names of this year’s winners.
The Oscar winners are yet to be unveiled, but one thing is certain: Come February 26, the 60 statues created here will be in the spotlight.
