FGM: Activist, others enlighten Nigerians on dangers using music

A Female activist Lola Alonge in collaboration with some music act has released a music video educating Nigerian on the dangers of Female Genital Mutilation.

This Monday marks the International Day of Zero Tolerance to Female Genital Mutilation.

Despite the consensus that Female Genital Mutilation is harmful and needs to be stopped, it remains a major practice in Nigeria with the practitioners hiding under religious and cultural myths to perpetrate the dreadful crime.

Lola Alonge, programme director, Child Health Advocacy Initiative has teamed up with some musicians to enlighten Nigerians about the crime using music.

The video had guest appearances like the Ooni of Ife who stated that FGM is a violation of the fundamental human rights of women and girls and need to be stopped.
