Minister of Power, Works and Housing says the federal government has started repairs and reconstruction of major bridges and roads across the country.
Babatunde Fashola was speaking at the inspection of the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos.
Tolulope Ogunjobi reports that according to the minister, the government is resolved not to allow the practice of allowing utilities fall into disrepair before being fixed.
He says the third mainland bridge falls into the category of bridges interconnecting cities that has benefited from maintenance.
The contractor agrees that government’s renewed attention to maintaining bridges across the country will further boost citizens confidence in using such infrastructure.
The minister added that surveys and inspections have been carried out across the country to determine the real state of bridges and roads, assuring that as funds become available more work will be done.
