Popular gospel singer, Bukola Akinade, fondly called Senwele Jesu by her fans, has disclosed that all is set for this year’s edition of her annual event, Praise Banquet.
Briefing newsmen at the weekend, the singer said the essence of the concert is to thank God for all He has done all through the year.
She emphasised that the concert is not about making money but praising God.
“It is an annual programme from my ministry and it is tagged Praise Banquet. This is its fifth edition and the purpose of the programme is to give praise to God for seeing every one of us through this year. We need to set a day aside to praise God for all He has done this year. The Praise Banquet is not a money oriented programme. The idea to stage the show has always been in my mind but I did not have anyone to back me up because God told me to set a day aside in a year to thank Him for all He has done.
“When I was inspired to begin this programme, my life was not this stable. The programme is not about money and that is why we do not allow people to spray money on the singers while on stage. It is just for God and not man. The only challenge we have faced in the past five years is finance but I decided to set aside some money from my pocket for the programme. I have an account where I put the money because I also have to give other performers something for transport even though they are my people and they did not demand for it. I need to appreciate them. With the help of my husband, we have been able to successfully carry out four editions of the programme,” she said.
