The Nigerian institution of structural engineers have asked president Muhammadu Buhari to declare a state of emergency in the building sector following the increase in the spate of building collapse in the country.

The institute says their investigations reveal that both the government, contractors and structural engineers have a role to play in the prevention of building collapse.
