The Borno State Police Command is seeking a re-orientation for the people of the state in order to tackle many of the societal challenges.
This came to the fore at the flag off of the ‘Change Begins With Me’ and the ‘Quick Response Unit’ campaigns in Maiduguri, the state capital.
TVC NEWS Correspondent in Maiduguri Kolomi Dala reports that the formal launch of the two-in-one campaign signals the return of peace to the hitherto troubled capital city.
Before now, holding events that attract crowd was almost forbidden because of the fear of terror attacks.
On a number of times, insurgents had attempted taking over the seat of power in the state and at such times, they have met with the combat ready security personnel.
But now, police authorities are capitalising on the gains so far achieved to propagate the campaign for a reorientation among the citizens.
The Police is also launching its ‘Ouick Response Unit’ designed to promptly respond to the cries of the public, particularly when in distress.
The Police boss in the state says it is high time the people partnered with the government and security agencies to weather the storm of many challenges bedeviling the nation.
The State Governor, here represented, lauds the security agencies for their untiring efforts to free the country of terrorists and charges the citizens to be the change they desire
Chikwu leads other senior police officers to share educative materials including flyers and handbills to the admiration of the teeming crowd at this event
For the Nigeria Police, it is not yet Uhuru, and urges more support and vigilance from the public.
While pledging their support, the people here express the hope that never again shall they be subjected to the psychological and emotional torture of the last seven years.
And more importantly, they wish for an immediate end to Insurgency and its perpetrators.
