The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has presented certificate of return to the Ondo state Governor- elect, Rotimi Akeredolu and his deputy, Agboola Ajayi.
At the colourful event at INEC office in Akure, Akeredolu commended the electoral body for a job well done.
The presentation of certificates of return came four days after conduct of the governorship election. Akeredolu polled 244, 842 votes to emerge as the next governor of the state in a keenly contested election.
The event was attended by supporters of the party, who came to honour the new governor of the state.
It was Akeredolu’ s deputy, Ajayi who first received his certificate of return from INEC.
After, it was the turn of Akeredolu, who thanked INEC for conducting a free, fair, transparent and credible election in the state.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, Olusegun Agbaje denied allegation levelled against the commission bothering on conspiring to favour a particular party and its candidate during the election.
He enjoined the governor- elect to be magnanimous in victory by carrying everybody along in an all inclusive government.
Akeredolu will be sworn in as the new governor of the state on February 24.
