Nigeria Customs seize ready-to-eat Nigerian food imported from India

TVC E. The Nigeria Custom Service has seized a 20ft container of ready-to-eat Nigerian food imported from India at Tin Can Island Port, Lagos.

The Customs Area Controller, of Tin Can Island Port, Comptroller Bashar Yusuf, handed over a container found to contain 1,395 cartons of ready-to-eat food such as Yam Porridge, Beans Porridge, Egusi Soup etc, to Mr. Udo Ekpo, a Deputy Director of NAFDAC on Monday, November 28th.

Addressing stakeholders at the premises of SDV/SCOA where he handed over the container, the Controller described the scenario as an aberration, wondering why an indigenous menu would be imported into the country at a time when investors are much sought for to boast local Industries.

Speaking further, he charged investors to look at the export potentials which abound in the country and take advantage of same for their Socio-Economic benefits.
