NCC suspends planned data tariff hike after public outcry

The Nigeria communications Commission NCC has suspended its authorised data tariff hike. It says the move is to allow it conclude a study to determine retail prices for broadband and data services.

But the NCC also denies it planned a tariff hike. It says its move was to establish a price floor to promote a level playing field that would protect small operators.

The Senate, and the Trade Union Congress had asked the communications commission to stop the tariff plan.
