Stephanie Linus, “Dry” win at NAFCA2016

“Dry” won the overall best film and also earned Stephanie Linus a best actress in a leading role award. The movie won the overall best film and also earned Linus the best actress in a leading role award at the sixth annual NAFCA also known as Nollywood & African Films Critics Award at the prestigious Alex Theatre of Glendale California USA.

Stephanie beat Yvonne Okoro, Uche Jombo, Amanda Ebeye, Ngozi Thompson, Jacinth Sutphin to win the award.

Inspired by the story of a young girl named Aisha, the movie features Darwin Shaw as Dr. Alex, the legendary Liz Benson Ameye as the Matron and Bill McNamara as Dr. Brown.

“Dry” also stars Zubaida Ibrahim as Halima, the teenager who had to endure a life not designed for a child: to be married to a man who was more than four times her age.

This screening comes just a few weeks after Stephanie Linus premiered “Dry” in Zambia at an event which was attended by the Zambian First Lady, Esther Lungu.

Stephanie won her first film award for ‘Dry’ at the Geena Davis and ARC Entertainment’s inaugural Bentonville Film Festival (BFF) in Arkansas, USA.

Dry” was named Best Overall Movie Africa at the 2016 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards on Saturday, March 5.

The movie also took home in the award for Best Sound Editor (Marquex Jose Guillermo) and Best Costume Designer (Uche Nancy).

It received AMVCA nominations in six other categories including Best Movie -West Africa, Best Cinematographer, Best Art Director, Best Director and Best Makeup Artist.
