As the 7-day warning strike embarked upon the members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities enters its second day, lecturers at the Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife, have boycotted the nationwide strike.
A visit to the university revealed that students are currently writing their first semester examination for the 2015/2016 academic session, and are being supervised by the lecturers.
Two factional chairmen of the Obafemi Awolowo University branch of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, Caleb Aborishade and Niyi Sunmonu have divergent opinion about the warning strike.
While Aborishade acknowledged the directive of the national body of union and complied with it, Sunmonu says the strike was not communicated to his faction and it will not honour it.
