The Shi’ite Islamic sect has absolved itself of terrorism, urging security agents to stop killing its members.
Addressing members at a seminar in Yola, Umar Hamza urged the Shiite people to respect constituted authority and not take the law into their hands.
Some of the sect faithful who spoke to TVC News appealed to the federal government to free their leader, Ibrahim El Zakzakky, and other members, who they say are being held in military custody despite a court directive.
