The leadership of the National Assembly has received a report on proposed budget reforms that would quicken budgetary procedures by ensuring the presentation and assent to the final act by the second week of December yearly.
The committee which was inaugurated in July 2016 by Senate President Bukola Saraki had the input of the Budget Office and the National Institute for Legislative Studies.
The document was presented to the Senate leadership on Thursday with the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Udo Udoma in attendance.
Highlights of the reforms include having public hearing sessions for annual budgets, long term development plans of about fifteen years and establishment of National Assembly Budget and Research Office, NABRO.
