Nigeria’s election management body says it will conduct all pending Rivers state re-run elections on December, the tenth, but insists it won’t be stampeded into discharging its responsibilities by any institution.
INEC National Commissioner in charge of Public Affairs, Solomon Soyebi disclosed this at a stakeholders’ meeting on the forthcoming governorship election in Ondo state.
Soyebi described Rivers state as a volatile area where politicians not only vote with cards but also with guns.
And in reaction to the Senate’s ultimatum on outstanding polls, the INEC Chief said the Commission had long fixed December the tenth but set some five conditions that must be met.
Now, he says the last of the stipulated conditions has just been met by all stakeholders.
