The Alliance for Democracy in Ondo state has held its final rally ahead of Saturday’s Governorship election, with the party’s candidate, Olusola Oke, urging people of the state to come out to vote for him and his running mate, Hon. Gani Dauda, on election day.
The event also witnessed the defection of hundreds of members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Social Democratic Party (SDP) and Action Alliance (AA) into the party’s fold.
The Democracy park, venue of the event was flooded by party supporters from the eighteen local councils in the state.
The defectors said the decision to dump their former parties was based on their conviction that only the AD government could rescue the state from the hopelessness currently being experienced by people of the state.
Leading the PDP defectors was a two-term member of the House of Assembly, Akindele Adeniyi. while Action Alliance national secretary, Kenneth Eze, announced the collapse of the party’s structure in the state into the AD.
Speakers at the event stressed the need for people of the state to vote for the AD.
In his speech, Oke warned against any attempt to manipulate the poll through the use of federal might.
He was quick to add that he was in the race to prevent further destruction of the good legacies of the state’s former leaders.
He also promised to create employment for the teeming unemployed youths in the state.
