Ellen Degeneres found herself locked out of the White House on Tuesday (22Nov16) ahead of the 2016 Presidential Medal of Freedom ceremony.
The 58-year-old talk show host and comedienne was set to join Tom Hanksand Bruce Springsteen at the medal event, but she misplaced her official identification, and White House security staff refused to let her past the gates without it.
She shared the news with fans of Twitter, posting a photo of herself sitting on a bench outside the U.S. President’s home in Washington, D.C. and added the caption: “They haven’t let me in to the White House yet because I forgot my ID. #NotJoking #PresidentialMedalOfFreedom.”
This year’s recipients also include Diana Ross, Robert Redford, architect Frank Gehry, Cicely Tyson and retired basketball greats Michael Jordan and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
