“Amaka’s Kin – The Women of Nollywood,” which is dedicated to the memory of the late Nigerian legendary Filmmaker and TV entrepreneur, Amaka Igwe is set to premiere in Dublin.
The documentary which chronicles the journey and challenges of female directors working in Nollywood will screen at the Feminist Film Festival.
“Amaka’s Kin” examines the careers of the very few female directors practicing in the male dominated Nigerian film industry; their journey and pain, their joys and the challenges and hurdles they had to jump to become directors of film.
The documentary features Mildred Okwo, Michelle Bello, Stephanie Linus, Omoni Oboli, among others.
Other movies screening at the festival includes “Regarding Susan Sontag,” “Margarita, with a Straw,” “The Piano,” ” The Sea between Us”.
