Wizkid was a big winner at the 2016 MTV Africa Music Awards.
The Star Boy boss took home the awards for Best Male and African Artist Of The Year beating Yemi Alade, Diamond Platnumz, Black Coffee and Sauti Sol.
His collaboration with DJ Maphorisa on “Soweto Baby” also got him an award in the Best collaboration category.
Yemi Alade was also a big winner of the night as she took home the Best Female Act award; an award she won last year making her the first female musician in the continent to win the award multiple times.
Kenyan Group Sauti Sol won the award for Best Group and Tekno took home the Breakthrough Act Award beating Simi and Falz to the prize.
Patoranking’s “My Woman, My Everything” with Wande Coal took home the Song of the Year award while Drake was awarded the International Artist award.
Grammy winner Hugh Masekela was awarded with the Legend award for his activism and his contribution to the growth of African music globally.
