Two dead in Kaduna Sunni-Shi’ite clash

Two people have lost their lives, after a fierce clash between  Sunni and Shi’ite Muslim faithful in Kaduna state, northwest Nigeria.
Properties costing a fortune have also been set ablaze, and buildings  destroyed.

Trouble started in Tudun Wada, a strong Muslim hold in the city after  security personnel had stalled a planned procession by the Shi’ites  earlier today.

But irate Sunni youth believed the Shi’ites had no right of protest,  since their activities have been banned in the state.

That led to a squabble, calling for the intervention of security personnel.

But the bickering continued after departure of the trouble shooters,  leading to loss of two lives.

Members of the Islamic movement in Nigeria, popularly called the  Shi’ites have taken to flight in the area.
