Reps urge FG to declare security emergency in Southern Kaduna

Nigeria’s House of Representatives has called on the Kaduna State government and the Federal Government to declare a security emergency in Southern Kaduna Senatorial District of Kaduna state.Kaduna
It also charged the Nigerian authorities to set up a military strike force in Southern Kaduna as an interim measure.

Days after unknown gunmen attacked some communities in Southern Kaduna, tales of horror are still being told.

The  legislators from that part of the country say the recent attack, which left scores of people dead, houses destroyed and many people injured is one too many.

They accuse the suspected herdsmen of wanting to take over their arable land.

As part of the resolution, the lawmakers urged the FG to actualise the resolve to set up a military battalion in Kafanchan or such other place in Southern Kaduna senatorial district.

The legislators also tasked security agencies to intensify efforts at bringing the perpetrators to justice.

They urged NEMA to provide relief materials to persons displaced on account of the attack.
