NPFL title win excites Rangers coach

Coach Imama Amapakabo is excited to win the Nigeria Professional Football League title in his first stint as coach of Enugu Rangers.


It was their first title in 32 years.

The Flying Antelopes defeated El Kanemi Warriors 4-0 at home on the final day of the season.

A Hattrick from forward, Chisom Egbuchulam and Osas Okoro was enough to hand the Coal City side, their seventh NPFL title.

Coach Amapakabo says it still feels like a dream.

Rangers finished on 63 points from 36 matches, three points ahead of runners-up Rivers United.

Both teams will represent Nigeria in next year’s CAF Champions League.

Third-placed Wikki Tourists, who defeated Sunshine Stars 2-0, will feature in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Heartland were relegated for the first time after a 1-1 draw at Plateau United.

Warri Wolves were also relegated to the Nigeria National League despite beating Ikorodu United 1-0 at the Warri City Stadium.

It was a remarkable decline for a side that finished in the second position last season.
