Popular Yoruba actor, Babatunde Omidina, popularly known as Baba Suwe, has reportedly told fans to stop worrying about his health.
Baba Suwe was reacting to complaints by Nollywood actor and producer, Yomi Fabiyi that he has been facing health challenges due to torture he received in the hands of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) a couple of years back.
According to reports making rounds, Baba Suwe has said that he is in a state of sound health.
“I don’t want anybody to worry about me. A lot of people have been calling me about the issue all day. What Yomi put out is a very old story. I don’t want to talk about the issue any more please ignore it,” he reportedly told an online medium.
Also, the NDLEA has said the actor was not, at any point, subjected to any form of torture while under its custody for alleged possession of hard drugs.
Speaking at a press conference, the head of public affairs of the NDLEA, Mitchell Ofoyeju, debunked the allegation by Fabiyi that Baba Suwe’s health had deteriorated due to torture at the agency.
Last Wednesday, Fabiyi posted a statement on Instagram, claiming that Baba Suwe told him that he could no longer walk properly because a pipe was inserted in his anus during the period that he was detained by the NDLEA.
It will be recalled that the popular comedian, Baba Suwe, was arrested at the Murtala Mohammed Airport in 2011 on the suspicion that he had ingested cocaine wraps. During the encounter, the popular comedian was detained for three weeks by the agency, but no drugs were found.
